Troubleshooting
Seeds failing to germinate
Ensure soil temperatures are warming up (March onwards) and that the soil has not dried out completely during the 12-24 day germination window.
Roots are woody or tough
This is often caused by harvesting too late or insufficient moisture during dry spells; water regularly and harvest when roots are young.
Poor root shape or forking
This usually indicates the presence of rocks or heavy, compacted soil; ensure soil is well-dug and friable before sowing.

Setup, Compatibility & Care
Planting Steps
Prepare the soil by removing weeds and ensuring it is light and fertile.
Create shallow drills exactly 3cm (1") deep.
Space drills 30cm (12") apart to allow for proper airflow and root expansion.
Sow seeds thinly along the drill and cover with soil.
Once seedlings reach the size where they are easy to handle, thin them out so that each plant is 10cm (4") apart.
Care Instructions
Watering: Keep the soil moist but not soggy, especially immediately after sowing.
Feeding: Use a balanced fertilizer early in the season if your soil is low in nutrients.
Harvesting: Lift the roots once they reach the desired size, typically from June to October, using a garden fork to avoid damaging the skin.
