Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup & Installation
- Turn off Water Supply: Locate the isolation valve for your toilet (usually near the base) and turn it off. Flush the toilet to empty the cistern.
- Remove Old Components: Carefully open the cistern lid. Depending on your valve type, you'll need to unscrew or unclip the old, faulty components of the inlet valve. It's often helpful to take photos before disassembling.
- Clean Cistern Interior: While the cistern is empty, it's a good opportunity to clean any sediment or limescale buildup.
- Install New Parts: Refer to the instructions provided with your specific Ideal Standard or Armitage Shanks inlet valve for detailed guidance on installing the new servicing kit components. Ensure all seals are seated correctly and connections are snug but not overtightened.
- Restore Water Supply: Slowly turn the water supply back on and check for leaks. Allow the cistern to fill and test flush the toilet multiple times to ensure proper operation.
Compatibility
This servicing kit (SV90167) is specifically designed for use with Ideal Standard and Armitage Shanks toilet cistern inlet valves. Always verify your existing valve's model number or visual appearance against product documentation if unsure.
Care & Maintenance
As a servicing kit, its purpose is maintenance. Once installed, no additional routine 'care' is typically required beyond general toilet cleaning. However, if you notice issues recurring, revisit the troubleshooting steps. The longevity of the replaced parts will depend on water quality and usage, but they are designed for durability.
