Product Information
Full details
The Trek PAC Aeolus Elite Air 00 - Black saddle is designed for adult riders seeking a balance of race-ready efficiency and enhanced comfort for road, gravel, and XC mountain biking. Its key benefit is the revolutionary 3D-printed AirLoom lattice technology, which offers targeted support and pressure relief at a more accessible price point. A potential consideration is that while it provides firm support, users accustomed to very soft saddles might need a brief adjustment period.

FAQs
What makes the AirLoom lattice technology different?
The AirLoom lattice is a 3D-printed structure precisely engineered to provide targeted support under the sit bones while allowing specific flex zones for pressure relief on soft tissue areas, offering a unique combination of support and comfort.
Is this saddle suitable for long-distance cycling?
Yes, the saddle is designed for enhanced comfort over long distances, specifically by offering pressure relief and support that can reduce fatigue during extended rides.
How does the AirLoom lattice compare to traditional saddle padding?
Unlike traditional foam padding which can compress and lose support over time, the AirLoom lattice provides consistent, targeted support and flex that is tuned for specific pressure zones.
Can I use this saddle for both road and off-road cycling?
Absolutely. The saddle's design is versatile and suitable for road, gravel, and XC mountain biking due to its blend of comfort, support, and durability.
What is the primary benefit of the nylon composite shell?
The nylon composite shell provides a strong, durable, and lightweight base for the saddle, contributing to its overall performance and longevity.
Are the austenite rails durable?
Yes, austenite rails are known for their strength, stiffness, and resistance to corrosion, contributing to the saddle's reliable performance and durability.
Troubleshooting
Discomfort after initial rides
Allow for an adjustment period of 5-10 rides as your body adapts to the saddle's unique support structure. Ensure proper saddle height and angle adjustments.
Saddle creaking noise
Check that the saddle clamp is tightened correctly to the manufacturer's torque specifications. Ensure there is no debris between the saddle rails and the clamp.
Uneven pressure distribution
Re-evaluate your bike fit. Minor adjustments to saddle height, tilt, or fore/aft position can significantly impact pressure distribution. Consult a professional bike fitter if issues persist.
Pros and Cons
Pros
- Provides next-dimension comfort for long rides and intense efforts.
- Offers a blend of efficiency and comfort without compromise.
- Utilizes advanced 3D-printed lattice technology for optimized support.
- Durable construction with a nylon composite shell and austenite rails.
- Accessible price point for advanced saddle technology.
Cons
- The firm support might require an adjustment period for riders used to softer saddles.
- While advanced, the lattice technology's long-term durability compared to traditional methods is still being established for some users.
- Specific fit tuning might be less intuitive than with fully traditional saddle designs.
Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup:
- Ensure your seatpost clamp is compatible with the austenite rails. Most standard seatpost clamps will work.
- Mount the saddle onto your seatpost, ensuring it is securely fastened according to your seatpost manufacturer's recommendations.
- Adjust the saddle angle and fore/aft position to achieve your optimal riding posture. Fine-tuning the angle may be necessary to best utilize the pressure relief features of the lattice.
Compatibility:
- The Aeolus Elite Air 00 is designed with standard rail dimensions, making it compatible with most road, gravel, and mountain bike seatposts.
Care:
- Clean the saddle regularly with a damp cloth and mild soap if necessary. Avoid harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners that could damage the lattice or shell.
- Wipe down the saddle after wet or muddy rides to prevent dirt and moisture buildup.
- Inspect the rails and shell periodically for any signs of wear or damage.
