Full details

The Kelty Wireless 6-Person Camping Tent is an ideal shelter for families and groups who prioritize ease of assembly and interior comfort during three-season adventures. Its standout benefit is the intuitive Quick Corner system, which allows for rapid setup, though the 1200mm waterproof coating suggests it is best suited for fair-to-moderate weather rather than extreme, high-alpine storms.

FAQs

Is this tent suitable for winter camping?

No, this is a 3-season tent designed for spring, summer, and fall. It is not built to withstand heavy snow loads or extreme cold.

Does it include a footprint?

The tent does not include a dedicated footprint; it is recommended to use a generic ground tarp to protect the floor fabric.

How many people can realistically fit inside?

While rated for 6 people, it is most comfortable for a family of 4 or 5, leaving room for gear and movement.

Can the tent stand up without being staked?

While the frame provides structure, it must be staked out to achieve the proper shape and to ensure the vestibules are functional.

What is the waterproof rating?

The tent features a 1200mm waterproof coating and fully taped seams to provide reliable protection in standard rainy conditions.

Troubleshooting

Difficulty inserting poles into corner pockets

Ensure the tent floor is staked out squarely before inserting the poles to provide the correct tension.

Condensation forming inside the tent

Increase airflow by cracking the windows or ensuring the rainfly vents are properly extended and supported by their kickstands.

Zippers snagging on fabric

Use the EZ-Zip functionality by keeping the fabric taut with one hand while sliding the zipper pull with the other.

Pros and Cons

Pros

  • Extremely fast setup thanks to Quick Corner technology
  • High peak height allows for comfortable standing
  • Excellent ventilation provided by the dual-door design
  • Convenient storage with dedicated nightlight pockets
  • Simplified packing process with Shark Mouth carry bag

Cons

  • 1200mm waterproof rating is adequate but not for extreme downpours
  • Large footprint requires a generous campsite area
  • Heavy center-pole structure is less compact than ultralight alternatives

Setup, Compatibility & Care

To set up, stake out the four corners of the tent body, insert the poles into the Quick Corner pockets, and lift the frame. Attach the clip system to the poles before throwing the rainfly over the top. Always ensure the rainfly is pulled taut and staked out to utilize the full waterproof capabilities of the taped seams. For care, ensure the tent is completely dry before storing it in the included Shark Mouth duffel to prevent mold and mildew. If the fabric becomes dirty, spot clean with a damp cloth and mild, non-detergent soap; never machine wash or dry the tent.
