FAQs

What is the weight limit for these picture pins?

These pins are designed for very lightweight items, generally under 1 pound (0.5 kg). Always test the hold with your specific item.

What material are the Taskar Picture Pins made from?

They are made from hardened carbon steel, specifically hardened to 54-56 HRC, and plated with a silver finish.

Can I use these pins on a concrete wall?

No, these pins are designed for softer materials like drywall and plaster. They will not penetrate or hold effectively in concrete.

How long are the Taskar Picture Pins?

The pins are 17mm in length.

Will these pins rust?

While the silver plating offers some protection, it is best to keep them in a dry environment. Prolonged exposure to moisture could eventually lead to rust.

Are these pins reusable?

While they can be removed and reinserted, repeated use in the same hole may weaken the hold. They are generally considered single-use for optimal security.

What does 'hardened to 54-56 HRC' mean?

HRC stands for Rockwell Hardness Scale. This rating indicates a high level of hardness for the steel, contributing to its resistance to bending and wear.

Troubleshooting

Pin bends during insertion

Ensure you are using a soft wall material like drywall. If the wall is too hard, try a different location or use a proper wall anchor and screw. Do not force the pin.

Pin does not hold item securely

The item may be too heavy for the pin. Ensure the item weighs less than 1 pound. Re-insert the pin, making sure it is fully embedded in the wall material.

Difficulty removing pin

Gently grip the exposed part of the pin with pliers and pull straight out. Be aware that removal may leave a small hole.

Pros and Cons

Pros

  • Durable hardened steel construction
  • Resistant to bending for a secure hold
  • Easy to install with a sharp point
  • Neutral silver finish complements decor
  • Specifically designed for lightweight items

Cons

  • Not suitable for heavy items
  • Limited to very small hanging tasks
  • Requires a wall surface that can accept pins
  • Can be difficult to remove without leaving a noticeable hole

Setup, Compatibility & Care

Setup:

  1. Select the desired location on your wall.
  2. Hold the Taskar Picture Pin firmly.
  3. Gently push the pin into the drywall or plaster until it is securely embedded, leaving enough of the pin exposed to hold your item.

Compatibility:

  • Best used on drywall, plaster, or soft wood surfaces.
  • Not recommended for use on hard surfaces like concrete, brick, or metal.
  • Suitable for items weighing under 1 pound (0.5 kg).

Care:

  • These pins are typically a one-time use item for hanging purposes. Clean with a dry or slightly damp cloth if they become dusty.
  • Avoid exposing to moisture or corrosive environments, which may affect the plating over time.
