Full details
The Balterley Stone Shower Tray is an ideal choice for homeowners and professional installers looking for a reliable, low-profile foundation for a 900x900mm square shower enclosure. Its primary benefit is the integrated upstand design, which provides superior water management and simplified sealing, though users should note that the stone resin construction makes the tray significantly heavier than acrylic alternatives during installation.

FAQs
Does this tray come with a waste kit?
No, the waste kit is typically sold separately. Check your enclosure or plumbing requirements for the correct size.
Can this tray be installed directly onto floorboards?
It is recommended to place the tray on a solid, level, and stable base to ensure long-term durability and prevent cracking.
How do the upstands work?
The upstands run along the sides of the tray that sit against the wall, allowing you to tile over them for a watertight seal.
Is the surface slip-resistant?
The tray features a standard smooth finish. If you require extra grip, consider adding an appropriate adhesive anti-slip mat.
What tools are needed for installation?
You will need a spirit level, waterproof silicone sealant, a sealant gun, and appropriate plumbing tools for the waste connection.
Troubleshooting
Water pooling near the tray edges
Check that the tray is perfectly level and ensure the shower enclosure seals are correctly installed against the upstands.
Movement or instability after installation
The floor substrate may be uneven. Ensure the base is fully supported across its entire surface area using a suitable screed or leveling compound.

Cons

- Requires specific waste trap compatibility due to the profile depth.
Setup, Compatibility & Care
Installation
Ensure the subfloor is perfectly level before positioning the tray. Given the material weight, use two people to maneuver it into place. Apply high-quality waterproof silicone sealant behind the upstands before tiling down to the tray surface.
Compatibility
This tray is designed for standard 900x900mm square enclosures. Ensure your chosen shower waste kit is compatible with the tray's specific outlet depth.
Care
Clean the surface regularly with a mild, non-abrasive bathroom cleaner and a soft cloth to maintain the finish. Avoid harsh chemical cleaners or scourers that could dull the surface over time.
