Troubleshooting
Poker feels loose at the handle.
Ensure the handle is securely attached. If it is a separate component, check for any fastening mechanisms. For a permanently attached handle, ensure there is no cracking in the wood near the attachment point.
Soot buildup is difficult to remove.
Allow the poker to cool completely. Use a stiff brush (not metal) to remove loose soot before wiping with a damp cloth. For stubborn residue, a mild soap solution can be used sparingly, followed by thorough drying.
Poker seems too short for a deep fireplace.
While 18 inches is standard, consider safety recommendations. If additional reach is absolutely necessary, explore extendable fire pokers, but ensure they meet safety standards.
