Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup
- Unpacking: Carefully unpack the UPS and check for all included components: the UPS unit, cables, software CD, documentation, and rackmount brackets if applicable.
- Placement: Place the UPS in a well-ventilated area, away from direct sunlight and moisture. Consider rack mounting if appropriate.
- Connections: Connect the equipment you want to protect to the UPS outlets. Use the appropriate cables (C13, C19) for your devices.
- Power Connection: Plug the UPS into a grounded power outlet.
- Initial Startup: Power on the UPS by pressing the power button. The LCD screen will display the status.
Compatibility
The SMX2200HV is compatible with most standard IT equipment, including servers, network devices, and workstations. Ensure that the total power draw of connected devices does not exceed the UPS's capacity (1980W/2.2kVA). The UPS is also compatible with the APC Network Management Card for remote management.
Care
- Regular Inspections: Periodically inspect the UPS for dust buildup and ensure the vents are clear. Clean the unit with a dry cloth as needed.
- Battery Maintenance: The battery is user-replaceable. Replace the battery cartridge (APCRBC143) when prompted by the UPS or every 3-5 years, depending on usage and environment. Always use a genuine APC replacement battery.
- Software Updates: Keep the PowerChute software (if used) updated to the latest version for optimal performance and security.
- Environmental Factors: Avoid operating the UPS in extreme temperatures or humidity. The operating temperature range is 0 - 40°C.
