The Snowdon Timber furniture board is a versatile, high-quality spruce wood panel designed for DIY enthusiasts and woodworkers looking to build custom bookshelves, bedside tables, and home shelving units. Known for its fine grain and lightweight strength, it offers a stable 18mm thick foundation for various interior projects; however, because it comes completely untreated, users must invest time in sanding, staining, or sealing the wood before final installation.

This board is designed for interior use. If used outdoors, it must be thoroughly treated with high-quality weather-resistant exterior sealant, though it is not recommended for direct weather exposure.
You can use standard woodworking tools, including handsaws, circular saws, or jigsaws. Always clamp the board securely and use a sharp blade for clean results.
Yes, even though it arrives with a smooth texture, a light sand with fine-grit sandpaper will open the wood fibers and ensure better adhesion for paints or stains.
Spruce is generally considered a lightweight wood, making it an excellent choice for floating shelves where weight load on walls is a consideration.
This specific variant is a single board (Pack of 1), though multi-pack variants are available for larger projects.
Store the timber horizontally on a flat, dry surface off the ground and avoid exposing it to extreme temperature changes or high moisture.
Use a fine-grit sandpaper (180-240 grit) to smooth out the grain along the cut edges before applying a primer or finish.
Apply a pre-stain wood conditioner before using your chosen stain to ensure an even, blotch-free finish on the softwood.
Before beginning your project, ensure the timber is acclimated to the humidity of the room where it will be installed for at least 24 hours. While the board is easy to cut with standard hand or power saws, always use a sharp blade to prevent tearing the fine grain. Since the wood is supplied untreated, it is vital to apply a protective finish—such as a wood preservative, varnish, or wax—to protect the spruce from moisture, fingerprints, and UV-related discoloration. Keep the board dry during storage and handle with care to avoid surface indentations.
