Setup, Compatibility & Care
When you receive your 7.5-litre pot Magnolia, ensure it is acclimated to its new environment gradually if moving from a nursery setup to full sun.
- Soil: Use a rich, slightly acidic to neutral, well-draining potting mix.
- Watering: During the first year, keep the soil consistently moist but never waterlogged. Container-grown trees will need more frequent irrigation than those in the ground.
- Placement: Choose a site protected from strong, cold winds which can damage the leaves.
- Pruning: Trim lightly after the flowering period if you need to restrict the height or shape, though the tree naturally stays compact.
- Feeding: Apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in early spring to support the flowering cycle.
