It contains 1g of Hycosan Night with 250 I.U. retinol palmitate (vitamin A), liquid paraffin, light liquid paraffin, wool fat and white soft vaseline. Each tube contains 5g of eye ointment. Hycosan Night improves the tear film and protects the surface of the eye. It is a particularly soft and smooth eye ointment which spreads easily on the surface of the eye. The vitamin A contained is a physiological component of the tear film, thus the eye ointment is well tolerated and blends well with the existing tear film. The symptoms of burning, tired and dry eyes are relieved and the eyelids move easily over the conjunctiva and cornea. The symptoms of burning, itching, dry eyes or foreign-body sensation are often experienced due to dry or air-conditioned environments. Environmental factors, side effects of medication, age, cigarette smoke, driving at night or prolonged periods working with VDU’s can also be the cause of these symptoms. Hycosan Night relieves these symptoms and forms a comfortable long-lasting protective film on the eyes. The thick consistency of the eye ointment causes a slight impairment of vision. Therefore, Hycosan Night is recommended to be applied before going to bed. Hycosan Night prevents any possible difficulty in opening the eyes for the first time in the morning.

FAQs
When is the best time to apply Hycosan Night?
Hycosan Night should be applied just before going to bed. Its thick consistency causes temporary blurred vision, making it unsuitable for daytime use.
Why does Hycosan Night contain Vitamin A?
Vitamin A (retinol palmitate) is a physiological component of the tear film. Its inclusion in Hycosan Night aids in ocular healing, improves the tear film's stability, and helps relieve symptoms of dry eyes.
Is Hycosan Night suitable for sensitive eyes?
Yes, Hycosan Night is sterile and preservative-free, which makes it generally well-tolerated and suitable for individuals with sensitive eyes or those who react to preservatives.
Can I use Hycosan Night with contact lenses?
Ointments are generally not recommended for use while wearing contact lenses due to potential coating and discomfort. It is best to remove your contact lenses before applying Hycosan Night and reinsert them in the morning after you've woken up and the ointment has cleared.
How long does a tube of Hycosan Night last once opened?
> Info needed: [Specific duration, e.g., 'A tube should be discarded X weeks/months after opening to maintain sterility and effectiveness. Please refer to the packaging for precise instructions.']
How does Hycosan Night help with morning eye discomfort?
By forming a long-lasting protective film over the eye's surface throughout the night, Hycosan Night prevents excessive moisture evaporation and keeps the eyes lubricated, which in turn helps prevent the common morning discomfort of burning, dryness, or difficulty opening the eyes.
Troubleshooting
Blurred vision after application
This is a normal and expected effect due to the ointment's thick consistency. Hycosan Night is specifically designed for use before bed, allowing it to work overnight without interfering with daily activities. If blurriness persists into the morning, gently rinse your eyes with a preservative-free saline solution.
Symptoms of dry eyes persist or worsen
If your dry eye symptoms do not improve or seem to worsen after several days of regular use, consult an eye care professional. There might be an underlying condition requiring different treatment.
Difficulty applying the ointment
Applying eye ointment can take some practice. Try sitting in front of a mirror. Gently pull down your lower eyelid and look upwards. Hold the tube over your eye and gently squeeze a small ribbon of ointment into the lower lid pocket. Avoid direct contact of the tube with your eye. If needed, ask someone to assist you or seek advice from your pharmacist.
Eye irritation or redness after use
Though Hycosan Night is preservative-free and generally well-tolerated, some individuals may experience sensitivity. If you notice persistent irritation, redness, or an allergic reaction, discontinue use immediately and consult your doctor or ophthalmologist.

Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup and Application
Wash Hands: Always wash your hands thoroughly before handling the eye ointment.
Prepare: Remove the cap. For first-time use, you may need to squeeze the tube gently until a small amount of ointment appears at the tip.
Apply: Tilt your head back slightly and gently pull down your lower eyelid with one finger to form a pocket. Apply a small ribbon of ointment (approximately 0.5 cm or about 1/4 inch) into this pocket by gently squeezing the tube. Avoid touching your eye or eyelid with the tip of the tube.
Close Eyes: Gently close your eyes for a few moments to allow the ointment to spread over the eye surface.
Clean Up: Replace the cap immediately after use. If excess ointment is on your eyelids or lashes, you can gently wipe it away with a clean tissue.
Timing: Due to the temporary vision impairment, Hycosan Night is recommended to be applied only before going to bed.
Compatibility
Preservative-Free: Hycosan Night is free from preservatives, making it generally well-tolerated, especially by individuals with sensitive eyes or those prone to reactions from preservatives.
With Other Eye Drops: If you are using other eye drops, apply them at least 30 minutes before Hycosan Night. Always apply eye ointments last.
Care
Storage: Store the tube at room temperature, away from direct sunlight and heat. Keep it out of reach of children.
Hygiene: To prevent contamination, do not touch the tip of the tube to any surface, including your eye or fingers. Close the cap tightly after each use.
Expiration: Do not use the ointment after the expiry date printed on the tube and carton. Typically, a tube should be discarded a certain period after opening (e.g., 6 months), but always refer to the specific instructions on the packaging for precise guidance. > Info needed: [Shelf life after opening]
