The B&Q 3mm Decoupling Membrane is designed for professional tilers and DIY enthusiasts who want to prevent tile and grout damage in areas prone to movement or high moisture. Its primary benefit is the absorption of lateral subfloor movement, effectively shielding your tile investment from cracks and fractures, though it does add a small amount of overall height to your flooring assembly which must be accounted for during door and threshold planning.

No, it can be easily cut using a standard utility knife or heavy-duty scissors.
It serves as an effective waterproof vapour barrier, perfect for protecting against moisture in bathrooms and kitchens.
Ensure the subfloor is free from dust or grease and that sufficient adhesive has been applied underneath the edges during installation.
Verify that the subfloor is not excessively loose and that the correct flexible tile adhesive was used to bond both the membrane and the tiles.
To install, ensure the subfloor is clean, dry, and structurally sound. Apply a suitable tile adhesive to the subfloor using a notched trowel, then embed the decoupling membrane into the adhesive. Once the membrane is set, apply your floor tiles directly on top using the appropriate tile adhesive for your chosen material. The membrane is compatible with concrete, screed, and timber substrates. To maintain the integrity of your floor, ensure that all joints are sealed correctly and that the floor is allowed to cure fully according to the adhesive manufacturer's instructions before heavy foot traffic is introduced.
