Full details
When cargo vessels come into harbour having covered thousands of sea miles, they still have a difficult stretch ahead of them. This is where the harbour tow boats come into play, taking command and guiding huge ships safely to the pier. These towing boats may not charge a fee, but they are essential for maneuvering oil tankers and cargo ships. The small, robust, yet agile ships are powered by strong engines ranging from 250 to several thousand HP. Their command bridges are designed as high structures to provide a clear all-round view for precise positioning within narrow harbour areas. The stern, bow, and sides are typically reinforced with additional paneling and protective braiding.
