The Soho Lighting 1 Gang USB C+C Socket in Matt Black is ideal for homeowners and designers seeking a modern, clutter-free charging solution for contemporary living spaces. It combines a standard 13A switched outlet with two high-speed USB-C charging ports, allowing you to power appliances and mobile devices simultaneously without needing bulky power adapters. While the screwless aesthetic provides a high-end, minimalist finish, it does require a standard UK single-gang back box and professional installation to ensure compliance with electrical safety regulations.

FAQs

Does this socket include USB-A ports?

No, this specific model features two USB-C ports only to support modern charging standards.

Can I install this myself?

Due to the requirements of UK electrical regulations, installation should be handled by a qualified professional electrician.

What is the benefit of a double-pole switch?

A double-pole switch disconnects both the live and neutral supply, offering safer isolation than standard single-pole switches.

Is the finish resistant to scratches?

The matt black finish is durable and smudge-resistant, though it should still be treated with care to avoid damage from sharp objects.

Will this fit a standard UK back box?

Yes, it is designed for compatibility with all standard UK single-gang electrical back boxes.

Is this socket compatible with high-draw appliances?

Yes, it is a standard 13A socket capable of powering typical household appliances, provided the wiring matches the intended load.

Troubleshooting

USB-C ports are not charging connected devices

Verify that the main rocker switch is in the 'ON' position and ensure the charging cable is fully inserted into the port.

Faceplate appears loose or slightly offset

Ensure the internal mounting chassis is level and firmly secured to the back box; then, realign the outer clip-on plate carefully.

Socket feels warm during heavy charging usage

Some warmth is normal during fast charging; however, if the socket becomes hot to the touch, disconnect devices and contact a certified electrician.

Setup, Compatibility & Care

For proper installation, this unit requires a standard UK single-gang back box. It is strongly recommended that a qualified electrician performs the installation to ensure the unit complies with current UK electrical wiring regulations. Before beginning, ensure the power is fully isolated at the consumer unit. To clean the faceplate, use a soft, dry cloth. Avoid using harsh chemical cleaners or abrasive scouring pads, as these can strip the matt black finish and cause surface damage. Regularly inspect the socket for signs of loose wiring or heat buildup, especially if the USB ports are used at maximum capacity over long durations.
