FAQs

How much Rugwash should I use?

Refer to the product label for the recommended amount. Generally, a small amount is needed for hand washing, and the machine-wash amount is also specified on the bottle.

Can I use this on blankets with filling?

Yes, Gold Label Rugwash is safe for use on blankets with filling. Just ensure you rinse thoroughly.

How often should I wash my horse rugs?

The frequency depends on usage and soiling. Stable rugs may need washing monthly, while turnout rugs may require less frequent cleaning, such as every few months, or as needed.

Is it safe for sensitive horses?

Yes, the non-detergent formula is gentle and suitable for most horses. However, if your horse has specific sensitivities, perform a patch test on a small area of the rug first.

Can I use hot water?

It is recommended to use lukewarm water for washing to preserve the fabrics and waterproof coatings. Avoid hot water.

What if I don't have a washing machine?

The rugwash is suitable for hand washing. Follow the hand-washing instructions.

Troubleshooting

Rug still dirty after washing.

Ensure you've used the correct amount of Rugwash and rinsed the rug thoroughly. For heavily soiled rugs, pre-treat stains before washing or consider a second wash.

Water repellency diminished after washing.

The Rugwash revitalizes the water-repellent finish, but it does not add a new one. Consider using a separate waterproofing product if needed.

Setup, Compatibility & Care

Hand Washing: Fill a tub with lukewarm water. Add the recommended amount of Gold Label Rugwash (as per the product label). Submerge the rug and agitate gently. Rinse thoroughly with clean water until no soap residue remains.
Machine Washing: Follow the washing machine manufacturer's instructions, and select a gentle cycle. Add the recommended amount of Rugwash to the detergent dispenser. Ensure the rug is not overloaded in the machine. Rinse thoroughly after the wash cycle.
Drying: Air dry the rug naturally, away from direct sunlight or heat sources. Do not tumble dry. Ensure the rug is completely dry before storage.
