Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup:
- Unfold the gabion basket to its intended shape.
- Secure the edges using the provided fasteners or appropriate wire ties, ensuring a rigid structure.
- Position the gabion basket in its final location on a level and stable surface.
- Begin filling the basket with clean, angular stones or rocks. Pack them tightly to ensure stability and a cohesive structure. For larger projects, filling may require machinery.
- Once filled to the desired level, secure any remaining open edges if applicable.
Compatibility:
The gabion basket is compatible with a wide range of fill materials, including river stones, crushed rock, gravel, or even recycled materials like brick or concrete rubble. Ensure fill material is of a size that will not easily fall through the mesh. It is best suited for outdoor environments and requires stable ground for installation.
Care:
Due to its durable construction and the nature of the fill material, gabion baskets require minimal care. Periodically check for any loose stones or damage to the mesh, especially after extreme weather events. Ensure the surrounding area is kept clear of debris that could compromise the structure's base.
