No, this feeder is specifically designed for standard suet cakes. Seeds would fall through the mesh holes.
It is best to clean the feeder whenever you refill it, or at least every two to three weeks, to maintain bird health.
The feeder is made of sustainable wood intended for outdoor use. However, keeping it in a sheltered spot will extend its lifespan.
The feeder is not designed to be squirrel-proof. If squirrels are an issue, consider using a squirrel baffle on the pole.
It typically attracts insect-eating birds like Great Tits, Blue Tits, Nuthatches, and various Woodpeckers.
Yes, it is suitable for year-round feeding, as suet provides high energy in winter and helps birds raising broods in spring.
Ensure the feeder is in a visible, quiet location and try placing it closer to natural shelter like hedges or trees.
Check that the mesh door is securely latched. Ensure the suet cake is fresh, as older or dried-out cakes can become crumbly.
Clean the feeder thoroughly with a mild soap solution and water, then allow it to dry completely in the sun before refilling.
Setting up the feeder is straightforward: simply find a sturdy branch, shepherd's crook, or bracket and hang it using the integrated loop. The feeder is compatible with standard-sized suet cakes. To maintain hygiene, it is recommended to empty any uneaten or old suet particles during each refill. Once every few weeks, wipe down the wooden exterior with a damp cloth and use a soft brush to clear any debris from the wire mesh. Avoid using harsh chemical cleaners to ensure the wood remains safe for wildlife.
