Product Information

Full details

The Hope Quick Release Skewer Pair is designed for cyclists seeking a durable, high-performance upgrade for their wheel security and interface stability. These skewers are ideal for riders who prioritize reliability and craftsmanship, utilizing CNC-machined aluminum levers and stainless steel rods to ensure a secure, stiff connection between the hub and frame. While these skewers offer exceptional build quality and longevity due to the brass seat design, users should note that they require proper manual tensioning adjustment to achieve optimal performance compared to standard stock quick-release options.

FAQs

Are these skewers sold individually or as a pair?

The QRSNP variant is sold as a pair (front and rear).

Will these fit a thru-axle frame?

No, these are strictly for frames and forks designed for standard quick-release skewers.

How often should I grease the threads?

It is recommended to check and apply fresh grease every few months or after riding in heavy rain/mud.

What material is the lever made of?

The lever is CNC-machined from high-quality aluminum.

Where are these manufactured?

All Hope components are engineered and machined in Barnoldswick, UK.

Why is there a brass seat?

The brass seat is used to reduce friction and increase the longevity of the clamping mechanism under high tension.

Troubleshooting

Lever is too easy to close

Open the lever and tighten the tension adjustment nut on the opposite side by half a turn and retry.

Lever is impossible to close

Loosen the tension adjustment nut slightly until the lever can be closed with firm palm pressure.

Skewer feels gritty when operating

Clean the exposed threads and the brass seat area, then re-apply a light bicycle grease.

Pros and Cons

Pros

  • High-quality CNC-machined construction
  • Excellent durability from brass seat design
  • Stiff and secure wheel interface
  • Easy to operate and adjust
  • Corrosion-resistant materials

Cons

  • Requires periodic tension checks
  • Heavier than ultra-lightweight titanium alternatives
  • Standard quick-release mechanism may not fit thru-axle frames

Setup, Compatibility & Care

To install, ensure the threads on the skewer are lightly greased before inserting through your wheel hub. Once the wheel is in the dropouts, tighten the tension nut on the opposite side of the lever while the lever is in the open position. Gradually increase tension until the lever requires firm pressure to snap into the closed position.

Compatibility: These are standard quick-release skewers. They are compatible with standard 100mm front and 130mm/135mm rear quick-release bicycle dropouts. They are not compatible with thru-axle frames or forks.

Care: Periodically clean the threads and the lever pivot point to prevent grit buildup. Apply a small amount of bike-specific grease to the threads to maintain smooth operation and prevent seizing.
