Setup, Compatibility & Care
To install, first turn off the main water supply to the tap or isolate the individual supply valves underneath the sink. Open the tap fully to drain any remaining water in the pipes. Use an adjustable wrench to carefully unscrew the tap headgear or cartridge. Remove the old, worn washer from the jumper valve at the bottom of the stem and replace it with the new 3/8 inch Thomas Dudley washer. Ensure the washer is seated flat and level. Reassemble the tap components, ensuring connections are tight but not overtightened to avoid damaging the internal threads. To ensure longevity, avoid excessive force when tightening the tap after each use; this prevents the rubber washer from being crushed prematurely against the valve seat.
