Setup, Compatibility & Care
To install this valve, ensure the engine is completely cool to prevent burns from residual coolant. Begin by locating the EGR unit on the intake manifold and disconnecting the electrical harness. Drain a small amount of coolant if necessary to avoid spills during the swap. When installing, always use a new gasket to ensure an airtight seal. After installation, it is strongly recommended to use a diagnostic scan tool to clear existing EGR error codes from the vehicle's memory and perform any required 're-learn' procedures. To prolong the life of the valve, ensure the engine's air intake system is clean and that the engine is not running excessively rich, as heavy soot buildup is the primary cause of premature valve failure.
