FAQs
Can I use Cleanaural Ear Cleaner on a puppy?
Yes, it is formulated for routine use, but consult your veterinarian first to ensure your pet does not have an underlying ear condition.
How often should I clean my pet's ears?
Frequency depends on your pet's breed and lifestyle, but it is generally suitable for regular, preventative maintenance.
What should I do if the solution gets in my pet's eyes?
Flush the eye immediately with plenty of cool, clean water and contact your veterinarian for advice.
Is this product suitable for cats?
This product is typically marketed for veterinary use in dogs; consult your vet before using it on other species.
How do I know if the eardrum is intact?
If you suspect an ear infection or damage, have your veterinarian perform an otoscopic exam before using any ear cleaners.
Troubleshooting
Pet resists ear cleaning
Take a slow approach by rewarding the pet with treats before and after each application to build positive association.
Excessive wax remains after cleaning
Ensure you are massaging the base of the ear for 30-60 seconds to fully break down the wax before letting the pet shake.
Pros and Cons
Pros
- Gentle pH-balanced formula safe for routine use
- Effectively neutralizes and masks unpleasant odours
- Easy to apply for consistent ear maintenance
- Supports long-term ear health by preventing wax accumulation
Cons
- Must be kept away from the eyes
- Cannot be used if the eardrum is not intact
- Requires careful application to avoid irritation
Setup, Compatibility & Care
To use, ensure your pet is calm. Gently lift the ear flap and apply the solution directly into the ear canal without allowing the tip to penetrate too deeply. After application, massage the base of the ear to help the formula work through the wax. Allow your pet to shake their head, then gently wipe away any visible debris from the outer ear using a clean cotton ball or gauze. Always store the bottle in a cool, dry place out of direct sunlight. Do not use if you notice signs of ear trauma or if your pet exhibits severe discomfort, and always ensure the eardrum is intact before application.
