Our Yuzet Ground Cover Membranes consist of tightly woven polypropylene threads and are UV resistant which guarantees a long product lifespan. The membranes are permeable for water and air, but reliably block weed growth without the need for chemicals. They are used in gardens and nurseries or for general landscaping. Ground cover membranes can also be used underneath paths and driveways as a means of stabilising the ground while preventing weed growth at the same time. Our ground cover membranes can be used by themselves or you can cover them with mulch, gravel or stones. They are usually black with green planting lines, but we also produce white ones which are especially suitable for the use on fruit plantations. The material reflects sunlight which ensures that fruit ripens evenly on all sides.
The Yuzet Heavy Duty Weed Control Fabric is designed for gardeners, landscapers, and construction professionals seeking a durable, chemical-free solution to weed management. Its key benefit is reliably blocking weed growth while allowing water and air to pass through, promoting healthy soil. A potential consideration is that its effectiveness relies on proper installation and securing to prevent displacement or weed growth from above.

FAQs
Is this fabric safe to use around vegetable gardens?
Yes, the Yuzet Weed Control Fabric is a chemical-free solution and is safe for use in vegetable gardens. Its permeable nature allows water and air to reach the soil.
How long does the weed control fabric last?
Due to its tough woven polypropylene construction and UV resistance, the fabric is designed for a long product lifespan, typically many years, assuming proper installation and care.
Can I lay this fabric over existing weeds?
For best results, it is recommended to remove existing weeds and vegetation before laying the fabric to prevent them from growing up through the fabric.
What is the difference between the black and white versions?
The black fabric is standard for general weed control. The white fabric is designed to reflect sunlight, which is beneficial in fruit plantations for promoting even ripening.
Do I need to cover the fabric?
While not strictly necessary for function, covering the fabric with mulch, gravel, or stones is recommended for aesthetic appeal and to help hold it in place, as well as to prevent weed seeds from germinating on its surface.
Can I use this on a slope?
Yes, but extra care should be taken to secure the fabric firmly with plenty of ground pegs to prevent slippage and ensure continuous coverage.
Troubleshooting
Weeds growing through small holes or at edges
Ensure seams are adequately overlapped (10-15 cm) and the fabric is securely pegged down. Cover with a sufficient layer of mulch or gravel. Repair any small holes by patching with another piece of fabric.
Fabric bunching or moving
Increase the number of securing pegs, especially in windy areas or on slopes. Ensure the ground is relatively smooth before laying.
Water pooling on the surface
Verify the fabric is not completely covered by a thick, impermeable layer (e.g., heavy clay soil on top). Ensure the fabric itself is not damaged, and the underlying ground has adequate drainage.
Fabric degrading prematurely
Ensure the product is the correct type for the application (heavy duty) and that it is not being used in an environment with extreme, constant UV exposure beyond its design limits without adequate covering.
Pros and Cons
Pros
Provides a long-lasting, robust barrier against weeds.
Environmentally friendly, eliminating the need for chemical herbicides.
Allows essential water and air to reach the soil.
Can be used as a stable base layer for various landscaping materials.
Durable construction ensures a long product lifespan, especially with UV resistance.
Cons
Requires proper installation and securing to maintain effectiveness.
Weeds may eventually grow from seeds on top of the fabric if not covered.
Can be labor-intensive to cut and lay, especially for large areas.
The black color may absorb heat, potentially affecting soil temperature.
May require covering with mulch or gravel for aesthetic appeal.
Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup:
Prepare the area by clearing existing weeds and debris.
Unroll the fabric, ensuring it lies flat against the ground.
Overlap seams by at least 10-15 cm for continuous coverage.
Secure the fabric using ground pegs or stakes, spaced appropriately to prevent movement.
Cut openings for existing plants or for new plantings.
Cover with mulch, gravel, or stones as desired for aesthetics and to help hold the fabric in place.
Compatibility:
Compatible with all types of soil.
Suitable for use under gravel, bark mulch, decorative stones, paving slabs, and decking.
Can be used in conjunction with irrigation systems, provided emitters are placed on top.
Care:
Inspect periodically for any tears or lifting.
Clean off any accumulated debris that could foster weed growth on the surface.
Ensure securing pegs remain in place.
No specific cleaning agents are required; a light brushing or rinse with water is usually sufficient.
