FAQs

What materials can I use the Rawlplug UNO with?

The Rawlplug UNO is designed for use in both solid and hollow base materials, including concrete, brick, plasterboard, and more.

What size drill bit do I need?

The correct drill bit size is printed on the packaging. Using the correct size is crucial for optimal plug performance. Always refer to the product packaging for specifics.

What type of screws should I use?

The product includes screws. However, ensure the screw length is appropriate for your fixture and that the screw head fits the object being mounted.

What if the hole is too large?

The lip on the plug is designed to prevent it from falling into oversized holes. If the hole is considerably oversized, consider using a different fixing method or filling the hole with an appropriate filler before re-drilling.

Can I reuse the plugs?

It is generally not recommended to reuse wall plugs, as their expansion properties may be compromised upon removal. For the best performance, use new plugs for each installation.

Are these plugs suitable for outdoor use?

While the plugs themselves can be used outdoors, it is recommended to use screws designed for outdoor use to prevent corrosion.

What is the load capacity of these plugs?

Load capacity depends on the base material and the screw used. Always refer to the product specifications or manufacturer guidelines for load capacity information.

Troubleshooting

The plug spins in the hole during screw insertion.

Ensure the hole is not too large. Try using a slightly larger screw or, if necessary, filling the hole with an appropriate filler and re-drilling.

The plug does not grip firmly, and the object is wobbly.

Verify the correct screw size is being used. Ensure the plug is fully expanded within the substrate. Check that the base material is compatible and not excessively crumbly.

  • The lip design prevents the plug from falling into the hole, increasing usability.

Cons

  • Performance is highly dependent on correct hole size.
  • May not be suitable for extremely heavy-duty applications compared to specialized fixings.
  • Requires a drill for proper installation.

Setup, Compatibility & Care

  1. Preparation: Drill a hole of the correct diameter into the base material. The hole size is crucial for proper plug function; check the product packaging for the specific drill bit size.
  2. Insertion: Insert the Rawlplug UNO Universal Contract Wall Plug into the prepared hole. If the hole is slightly oversized, the lip on the plug should prevent it from falling in.
  3. Screw Insertion: Align the object you're fixing and insert the appropriate screw through the object and into the plug. Tighten the screw until the object is securely fastened.

*Compatibility*: The plugs are compatible with various base materials. Use with the included screws or those recommended for your specific application.

*Care*: There is no specific care required. Avoid using the plugs in environments exceeding their temperature tolerance, as this may affect performance.
