Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup:
- Ensure the vehicle is turned off and the ignition is removed.
- Locate the existing car battery.
- Disconnect the negative terminal cable first, followed by the positive terminal cable.
- Remove the battery retaining bracket or clamp.
- Lift out the old battery, using the ergonomic carry handle if available. Be mindful of its weight.
- Place the new Castrol 202 battery in the tray, ensuring correct orientation.
- Secure the battery with the retaining bracket or clamp.
- Connect the positive terminal cable first, then the negative terminal cable.
- Double-check all connections are tight.
Compatibility:
This battery is designed for conventional 12V vehicles that do NOT have start/stop systems, EFB (Enhanced Flooded Battery), or AGM (Absorbent Glass Mat) battery technology requirements. Always consult your vehicle's manual or a qualified mechanic to confirm compatibility before purchasing.
Care:
- Maintenance-Free: The Castrol 202 is a sealed, maintenance-free unit. No regular water top-ups are required.
- Cleaning: Keep the battery terminals clean. Use a wire brush or terminal cleaner if corrosion is present. Ensure the battery casing is free of dirt and debris, wiping with a damp cloth if necessary.
- Charge Indicator: Periodically check the charge level indicator for a visual assessment of the battery's state of charge.
- Charging: If the battery is discharged, use a suitable 12V lead-acid battery charger. Follow the charger's instructions carefully, and ensure proper ventilation during charging.
