Product Information

Full details

The Harris Exterior Masonry Roller Set is an essential tool kit for homeowners and professionals tasked with painting brick, stone, or rendered surfaces. By providing a high-capacity 9-inch roller designed specifically for rough textures, it allows for fast, uniform application of thick exterior paints and weatherproof coatings. While the kit provides excellent coverage, users should note that the specialized fabric requires thorough cleaning immediately after use to prevent masonry paint from drying and hardening within the fibers.

FAQs

Can I use this on interior walls?

While it can be used, the high-pile nature of the roller is intended for rough textures and may leave a stippled or 'orange peel' finish on smooth interior plaster.

Is the handle compatible with extension poles?

Yes, the handle is designed to fit standard screw-fit extension poles for reaching higher sections of your exterior walls.

Should I wash the roller before the first use?

It is good practice to dampen the roller and spin it dry; this helps it absorb the paint more effectively.

What type of paint is best for this kit?

This kit is optimized for masonry paints, textured coatings, and weatherproof exterior emulsion.

How do I know if the roller sleeve is worn out?

If the fibers become matted, lose their 'spring' (they don't bounce back after pressure), or start leaving uneven streaks, it is time for a replacement.

Troubleshooting

Roller is shedding fibers on the wall

Wrap the new roller sleeve with masking tape and peel it off once or twice before first use to remove any loose factory fibers.

Paint application looks patchy

Ensure the roller is fully saturated; masonry paint is thick and requires a heavier load than standard emulsion.

Pros and Cons

Pros

  • Specifically designed for rough exterior textures like brick and stone
  • Comprehensive kit provides all necessary tools for an immediate start
  • High-pile roller sleeve ensures deep coverage in uneven surfaces
  • Sturdy construction suitable for heavy-duty exterior coatings

Cons

  • Requires significant effort to clean masonry paint from high-pile fibers
  • The 9-inch size may be too large for small detail work without using the included brush
  • Requires a separate extension pole for high walls not included in this set

Setup, Compatibility & Care

Setting up the kit is straightforward: slide the roller sleeve firmly onto the frame until it clicks into place. Before using, it is recommended to dampen the sleeve slightly if using water-based paints, then spin it out to remove excess moisture.

Care Instructions:

  1. After use, scrape excess paint back into the tin using the edge of the brush or a scraper.
  2. Rinse the roller sleeve under running water until the water runs clear.
  3. Because masonry paint is thick, you may need to use a dedicated roller cleaner or warm soapy water to ensure the core of the sleeve is free of debris.
  4. Stand the roller upright to air dry completely before storage to prevent mold or matting of the fibers.
