Product Information

Full details

The Cromar GRP Roofing Wall Fillet is an essential component for professional roofers and DIYers looking to achieve a weathertight seal where roofing membranes meet vertical surfaces. Designed for durability and ease of installation, this 70mm x 90mm angled trim ensures a clean transition between the roof deck and abutting walls or parapets. While it offers a superior, long-lasting alternative to traditional lead flashing, users should note that precise positioning on the roof deck is required for a secure, long-term fit.

FAQs

Can I screw this into the brickwork?

No, the GRP Wall Fillet is specifically designed to be fixed to the roof decking, not the vertical wall surface.

What is the recommended fastener?

Use ring shank nails for maximum grip and longevity in the roof deck.

Does this require painting?

No, the GRP material is designed to be weather-resistant and is typically finished in a standard grey suitable for roof exteriors.

Can this be used on bitumen roofs?

While it can be used in various flat roofing systems, always ensure the adhesive or sealant used is compatible with your specific membrane type.

How do I cut the fillet to size?

You can use a standard fine-tooth handsaw or a power saw with a blade suitable for GRP/plastic composites.

Troubleshooting

Trim is not sitting flush against the deck

Check for debris or uneven decking underneath and ensure nails are driven deep enough to pull the flange flat.

Gaps appearing at joint intersections

Ensure all joints are properly overlapped and sealed with a suitable roofing adhesive to prevent water ingress.

Pros and Cons

Pros

Corrosion-resistant material ensures longevity in harsh outdoor conditions
Lightweight design makes handling and positioning on roofs easier than metal alternatives
Provides a cleaner, more modern finish than traditional mortar or lead flashing
Easy to cut and install using standard roofing tools

Cons

Requires careful measurement to ensure correct alignment with wall abutments
Cannot be fixed directly to the wall; must be secured to the roof deck
Material rigidity means it cannot bend to accommodate irregular wall surfaces

Setup, Compatibility & Care

To install, ensure the roof decking is clean, dry, and structurally sound before positioning the fillet. Place the trim firmly against the vertical wall and secure it to the roof deck using ring shank nails at the recommended 150-200mm intervals. Ensure the joints between trim sections are properly sealed using an appropriate lap adhesive or sealant. This product is fully compatible with C100 simulated lead flashing systems, which can be installed over the top to protect the vertical edge of the membrane. No specialized care is required beyond occasional inspections to ensure the fixings remain tight and the membrane seal is intact.
