Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup
Using Wilson US Open Tennis Balls is straightforward:
- Open the Can: Twist or pry open the top lid of the pressurized 4-ball can.
- Remove Balls: Take out the desired number of balls from the can. Note that once the can is opened, the internal pressure will begin to equalize with the atmosphere, and the balls will gradually lose their pressure over time.
Compatibility
- Rackets: Compatible with all standard tennis rackets.
- Court Surfaces: Designed for optimal durability and performance on hard courts, but also suitable for clay and indoor courts. For high-altitude play (above 3500ft), ensure you are using the specific 'high altitude core' variant for best results.
Care
Proper care helps maintain the balls' quality, though tennis balls are consumable items:
- Storage: Store unopened cans in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight to preserve pressure. Once opened, store used balls in a ball hopper or bag.
- Usage: Rotate your balls during practice or matches to ensure even wear. Dispose of balls that have significantly lost pressure, are visibly damaged, or whose felt is severely worn, as these can affect play and potentially damage your racket strings.
- Shelf Life: Unopened pressurized cans have a long shelf life. Opened balls will lose pressure within days or weeks depending on environmental conditions and play time.
