Can I move the gabion basket after I've filled it?

Troubleshooting
Basket bulging or deforming
Ensure all spiral rods are fully tightened and that the spacer hooks are correctly installed and securing the mesh panels as intended. Distribute fill material evenly.
Difficulty assembling spiral rods
Ensure the ends of the spiral rods are aligned with the holes in the adjacent mesh panels. Apply steady pressure to twist them into place. If resistance is high, check for any obstructions.
Gabion feels unstable after filling
Confirm the base is on a level and firm surface. If it's intended for a retaining wall or a tall structure, consider anchoring the base to the ground with stakes or other appropriate methods.

Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup Instructions:
- Choose Location: Select a level and stable area for your gabion basket. Once filled, it will be heavy and difficult to move. Ensure the chosen spot is where you intend for it to remain.
- Prepare Components: Unpack all components: Metal Grids, Spiral Rods, and Spacer Hooks.
- Assemble Grids: Connect the metal grid panels using the spiral rods. Twist the rods through the designated holes to join the sides, front, back, and base.
- Attach Spacer Hooks: Insert the spacer hooks at strategic points (usually in the corners and along edges) to maintain the basket's shape and prevent it from bulging.
- Fill the Basket: Carefully fill the gabion basket with your chosen material. Distribute the fill evenly. For aesthetic purposes, you can arrange the outer layer of stones meticulously.
- Secure (Optional): For added stability, consider securing the base to the ground, especially if using it as a retaining wall.
Safety Notes:
- Always wear protective gloves during installation to prevent cuts or abrasions from the metal edges.
- Keep small children away from the installation area to prevent accidental injury.
Compatibility:
This gabion basket is designed for use with various common fill materials such as stones, gravel, crushed rock, or even wood. It is compatible with most standard landscaping fill materials. Ensure the fill material is suitable for outdoor use and provides adequate drainage if used as a planter.
Care Instructions:
- The galvanised steel is designed for outdoor durability. No special cleaning is typically required.
- Periodically inspect the gabion for any signs of damage or instability, especially after severe weather.
- If used as a planter, manage plant watering to ensure the fill material doesn't become oversaturated, which could affect the metal over very long periods, though the galvanisation offers significant protection.
