Setup
- Preparation: Turn off the power at the circuit breaker before beginning installation.
- Removal: Remove the old smoke alarm and disconnect any wiring.
- Mounting: Use the included fixings to mount the KF20 in the same location.
- Wiring: Connect the wires according to the instructions provided. Ensure correct polarity.
- Battery Installation: Insert a fresh 9V alkaline battery.
- Power On: Restore power at the circuit breaker.
- Test: Press the Test/Hush button to ensure the alarm sounds.
Compatibility
The Kidde KF20 is compatible with the following models: KF1, 4870, 4881, 1240C, and IAR230C. It can be electrically interlinked with many older Kidde models. However, the 123i / 1239HI, 1275H, KF1R, and KF10R models require professional electrical installation.
Care
- Testing: Test the alarm monthly by pressing the Test/Hush button.
- Cleaning: Vacuum the smoke alarm gently every six months to remove dust and debris. Do not use cleaning solvents or water.
- Battery Replacement: Replace the 9V battery annually, or when the low battery warning sounds.
