Specifications Flowers right into autumn. Position: full sun Soil: fertile, moist, well drained or sandy Rate of Growth: average Flowering period: August to October Hardiness: fully hardy This stunning, fountainous grass is ideal for a mixed or herbaceous border, where it will add height, colour and movement for the best part of the year. The slender leaves have a white stripe down their centre, and they form a dense, relatively upright clump that becomes more splayed towards the top. It flowers profusely over several months from late summer, and its new, reddish-brown, tassel-like flowers offer a pretty foil for the older ones, which fade to silver as they mature. Garden care: Protect from excessive winter wet. Cut down to the ground in late winter, before the new foliage appears. Statuesque and with a long season of interest. Position: full sun Soil: fertile, moist, well drained or sandy Rate of growth: slow to average Flowering period: August to September Hardiness: fully hardy A statuesque, relatively fine foliage grass that flowers late, so will help extend the season of interest in a mixed border well into autumn. It's slender arching leaves have a distinctive white stripe down the centre, and although it does not flower as reliably as other Miscanthus sinensis cultivars, when it does, it produces striking, silky brown flowers that hang like tassels. It is relatively compact, so is ideal for larger patio pots too. Garden care: Cut down to the ground in late winter, before the new foliage appears.
