Setup, Compatibility & Care
Before You Start
Important: Always perform a patch test 24-48 hours before the first application and after extended breaks from tinting. Apply a small amount of mixed tint to a discreet area, such as behind the ear or inner elbow. If any irritation, redness, or swelling occurs, do not proceed with the application.
Application Steps
- Cleanse: Thoroughly clean lashes and brows with a non-oily cleanser. Ensure they are free of makeup, dirt, and oil. For best results, use a saline solution or tint remover.
- Protect: Apply a skin protection cream (like petroleum jelly) around the eyes and on the skin adjacent to the eyebrow area to prevent staining. Place RefectoCil Eye Protection Papers under the lower lashes to protect the skin from tint.
- Mix: Info needed: Mix a small amount of RefectoCil Tint (approximately 2 cm) with RefectoCil Oxidant Liquid or Cream (specify ratio, e.g., 10 drops liquid or 15-20 drops cream) into a creamy paste in a non-metallic bowl.
- Apply: Using an application stick, carefully apply the mixed tint to the lashes, ensuring complete coverage from root to tip. Then apply to the eyebrows in the direction of hair growth.
- Process: Info needed: Allow the tint to process for 5-10 minutes for eyebrows, and 5-10 minutes for eyelashes. The processing time dictates the intensity of the color. A longer processing time results in a more intense color.
- Remove: Gently remove any excess tint with a dry cotton pad. Then, using a damp cotton pad, carefully wipe off any remaining tint until no residue is visible. Avoid getting tint into the eyes.
Compatibility
- Contact Lenses: Remove contact lenses before tinting.
- Sensitivity: Not suitable for individuals with known allergies to hair dyes or tinting products. Refer to the patch test guidance.
- Professional Use: While suitable for home use, professional application is recommended for optimal results and safety.
Aftercare & Maintenance
- Avoid Oil-Based Products: For 24 hours post-tinting, avoid oil-based cleansers, makeup removers, and facial creams around the eyes, as they can cause the tint to fade prematurely.
- Gentle Cleansing: Use mild, non-abrasive cleansers to wash your face.
- Reapplication: The tint typically lasts for up to 6 weeks, depending on hair growth and individual care. Reapply when the color begins to fade to maintain the desired intensity.
