Setup, Compatibility & Care for Your OPI Nail Lacquer
Using your OPI Nail Lacquer effectively involves proper preparation, understanding its compatibility, and caring for both the product and your manicure.
Nail Preparation
- Cleanliness: Before any application, ensure your nails are clean and free of oils, old polish, or lotions. Use a nail cleanser or alcohol wipe if necessary.
- Shape & Buff: File your nails to your desired shape. A light buffing can help create an even surface for polish adhesion, though it's not always necessary.
- Cuticle Care: Gently push back cuticles. Do not cut them unless absolutely necessary, as they protect your nails from infection.
Product Compatibility
OPI Nail Lacquer is designed to work seamlessly with other OPI products for optimal results:
- Base Coats: Always use an OPI Base Coat (such as OPI Natural Nail Base Coat) to prepare your nails and protect them.
- Top Coats: Finish your manicure with an OPI Top Coat (like OPI Top Coat or RapiDry Top Coat) to add shine, protection, and extend wear.
- Drying Drops: For faster drying, OPI DripDry Lacquer Drying Drops are fully compatible and recommended.
- Removers: Use any standard nail polish remover (acetone or non-acetone) for removal.
Care and Storage
- Proper Storage: Store your OPI Nail Lacquer bottle upright in a cool, dark place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. This helps maintain the formula's consistency and prevents it from thickening prematurely.
- Seal Tightly: Always ensure the cap is screwed on tightly after each use to prevent air exposure, which can cause the lacquer to dry out or thicken.
- Thickening Polish: If your lacquer becomes thick, a few drops of OPI Nail Lacquer Thinner (not remover!) can restore its original consistency. Do not add remover as it can alter the formula.
- Manicure Maintenance: To extend the life of your 'Chiffon-d of You' manicure, reapply a thin coat of OPI Top Coat every 2-3 days. Avoid using your nails as tools to prevent chipping.
