Product Information

Full details

The Trek CarBack Radar Rear Bike Light is designed for cyclists who want to enhance their road safety and awareness. Its primary benefit is the integrated radar system that detects approaching vehicles and alerts the rider, significantly boosting confidence on busy roads. A potential caveat is its reliance on compatible GPS head units or the Trek Accessory app for full alert functionality. Key features include rear-approaching vehicle detection, audio and visual alerts, high-visibility daytime running lights, and broad compatibility with cycling computers.

FAQs

How do I charge the Trek CarBack?

The CarBack is charged via a USB port. Connect the provided charging cable to the device and a compatible USB power source. The fuel gauge LEDs will indicate charging status.

What is the battery life of the CarBack?

The battery life is over 7 hours in typical use, depending on the selected light mode. The visible fuel gauge LEDs allow you to monitor the remaining battery.

Can I use the CarBack without a GPS computer?

While the radar detection and DRL will function, you will not receive audio or visual alerts for approaching vehicles. For full functionality, pairing with a compatible GPS head unit or the Trek Accessory app is recommended.

How does the radar detect vehicles?

The CarBack uses radar technology to detect objects (vehicles) moving towards the bike from behind, up to a range of 240 meters. It then communicates this information to your paired device.

Are the DRLs visible in all conditions?

The Daytime Running Lights are designed for maximum visibility, even in bright sunlight, and can be seen from up to 2 km away. They also have modes suitable for night use.

What is the warranty period for the Trek CarBack?

Information regarding the warranty period should be obtained directly from Trek or your authorized retailer, as it can vary by region and purchase date.

Can the CarBack be used in wet weather?

The CarBack is designed for cycling, which often involves varying weather conditions. However, it's advisable to check the product's specific IP rating for water resistance and to keep the charging port dry.

Troubleshooting

CarBack not detecting vehicles

Ensure the device is powered on and correctly paired with your head unit or app. Check that the radar sensor is not obstructed by mud, dirt, or debris. Verify mounting position for optimal radar sweep.

No alerts on GPS head unit

Confirm that the CarBack is actively connected to your head unit. Check the head unit's settings to ensure radar alerts are enabled. Try re-pairing the device.

DRL not turning on

Check the battery level. If low, charge the device fully. Ensure the light mode is selected correctly and the device is powered on.

Difficulty pairing with app or head unit

Ensure Bluetooth and ANT+ (if applicable) are enabled on your smartphone or head unit. Turn the CarBack off and on again. Try resetting the CarBack's Bluetooth connection if possible, and re-initiate pairing.

Inaccurate vehicle distance readings

Ensure the device is mounted securely and is not vibrating excessively. Clear any potential obstructions around the radar sensor. Check for firmware updates for both the CarBack and your head unit/app.
