Product Information

Full details

This guide is for automotive technicians and DIY mechanics working on vehicle CV joints. The key benefit is its offset design, which provides easier access in confined engine bays for securing large CV boot clamps and eared clamps. A potential caveat is its specialized nature, making it less useful for general-purpose pliers tasks. It's a dedicated tool for efficiently and accurately installing clamps on CV boots.

FAQs

What types of clamps can these pliers be used on?

These pliers are specifically designed for large CV boot clamps and other eared clamps. They have a maximum clamping width of 31mm.

What is the main advantage of the offset design?

The offset design allows the pliers to be used turned at 90 degrees, providing much easier side access in confined spaces compared to traditional straight-end pliers.

What is the maximum size clamp these pliers can handle?

The pliers have a maximum clamping width of 31mm.

Are these pliers suitable for general use?

While durable, these are specialized tools for CV joint boot clamps. They are not intended for general-purpose clamping tasks.

How should I maintain these pliers?

Clean them with a cloth after use, lubricate the pivot point periodically, and store them in a dry environment to prevent rust.

What is the overall length of the pliers?

The overall length of the pliers is 245mm.

Can these pliers be used on spring-type hose clamps?

These pliers are designed for eared clamps, not spring-type hose clamps. Using them on inappropriate clamp types may damage the tool or the clamp.

Troubleshooting

Pliers are stiff or difficult to open/close.

Clean the pivot area and apply a small amount of lubricating oil. Ensure no debris is obstructing the joint.

Unable to get a firm grip on the clamp.

Ensure the clamp is within the 31mm maximum width capacity. Verify the clamp ears are properly positioned within the pliers' jaws.

The offset head feels awkward to use.

Experiment with different angles of approach. The offset is designed for specific tight spots; practice may be needed to find the optimal working angle for your situation.
