Setup, Compatibility & Care
Compatibility Check:
Before purchasing, it is *highly recommended* to verify compatibility with your specific vehicle. You can do this by:
- Consulting your vehicle's owner's manual or service history.
- Contacting the sales team with your vehicle's VIN, registration number, or exact model details.
- Comparing the OE part numbers (e.g., 18111170941) with the gasket you are replacing.
Setup (Installation):
Installation of an exhaust gasket is a mechanical procedure that typically involves:
- Safely lifting and supporting the vehicle.
- Locating the connection point between the exhaust downpipe and the center muffler.
- Removing the fasteners holding the two sections together.
- Removing the old gasket.
- Cleaning the mating surfaces of both the downpipe and muffler.
- Installing the new Elring 012.420 gasket.
- Reassembling the exhaust sections and tightening fasteners to the manufacturer's specified torque.
*Professional installation is recommended if you are not experienced with exhaust system work.*
Care:
Once installed, the gasket requires no specific maintenance. Its longevity depends on the quality of installation and the operating conditions of the exhaust system. Regular visual inspection of the exhaust system for signs of leaks is advised.
