FAQs
Is the Nexen Roadian 581 suitable for all types of weather?
The Roadian 581 is designed with features like 4-channel grooves for excellent performance in wet and dry conditions. While it offers good all-season capability, it is not a dedicated winter tire and may not provide optimal grip in heavy snow or ice.
How does the OBCS technology improve braking?
The Optimized Best Contour System (OBCS) ensures that the tire maintains optimal contact pressure with the road during braking. This even distribution of stress helps to maximize grip and shorten stopping distances.
What does 'Original Equipment' (OE) mean for this tire?
Original Equipment (OE) means that this tire model was selected by car manufacturers (like Kia and Hyundai) to be fitted as standard on new vehicles. It's designed to meet the specific performance and comfort requirements set by those manufacturers.
Can I use these tires on a different vehicle than the one they came with?
Yes, provided the tire size (205/55R16) and the load/speed rating (91H) match the requirements specified in your vehicle's owner's manual or doorjamb sticker. Always confirm compatibility before installation.
What is the expected lifespan of the Nexen Roadian 581?
Tire lifespan varies greatly depending on driving habits, road conditions, and maintenance. However, the Roadian 581 is designed for durable everyday use. Proper maintenance, including correct inflation, regular rotation, and alignment, will help maximize its tread life.
How do I maintain my Roadian 581 tires for best performance?
Regularly check tire pressure, rotate tires every 5,000-7,500 miles, ensure proper wheel alignment, and inspect tires for wear and damage. Keeping tires clean also helps preserve the rubber.
Troubleshooting
Tire vibration or imbalance
Ensure tires are properly balanced during installation. If vibration occurs later, have them re-balanced. Check for uneven tread wear or damage.
Increased road noise
While designed for quietness, noise can increase with wear or if foreign objects become lodged in the tread. Inspect treads and ensure proper inflation.
Poor traction in wet conditions
Verify tire pressure is correct. Ensure the tread depth is adequate. If hydroplaning persists, check for obstructions in the drainage grooves and consider that extreme water conditions may exceed the tire's designed limits.
Uneven tread wear
Check wheel alignment and tire balance. Ensure tires are being rotated at recommended intervals. Maintain correct tire pressure.
Pros and Cons

- Excellent wet and dry grip for reliable traction.
- Responsive handling for confident cornering and steering.
- Quiet and comfortable ride enhances driving experience.
- Original Equipment (OE) fitment trusted by major manufacturers.
- Good hydroplaning resistance due to advanced groove design.

Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup: As an Original Equipment (OE) tire, the Nexen Roadian 581 is designed to be a direct replacement for the tires originally fitted to your vehicle. Installation should be performed by a qualified tire professional who will ensure proper mounting, balancing, and inflation to the vehicle manufacturer's recommended pressure.
Compatibility: This specific tire, the 205/55R16 91H, is designed to fit vehicles that use this exact tire size and have a corresponding load and speed rating. Always consult your vehicle's owner's manual or the sticker on the driver's side doorjamb to confirm the correct tire size and specifications for your car.
Care: To maximize the lifespan and performance of your Nexen Roadian 581 tires:
- Regular Inflation Checks: Check tire pressure monthly and before long trips. Ensure they are inflated to the vehicle manufacturer's recommended PSI (found on the vehicle doorjamb sticker).
- Tire Rotation: Rotate your tires every 5,000 to 7,500 miles to ensure even tread wear.
- Wheel Alignment: Have your wheel alignment checked periodically, especially if you notice uneven tire wear or if the vehicle pulls to one side.
- Visual Inspection: Regularly inspect tires for any signs of damage, such as cuts, bulges, or embedded objects. Also, check tread depth.
- Cleaning: Clean tires with mild soap and water. Avoid harsh chemicals or petroleum-based tire dressings, which can degrade the rubber.
