FAQs

Can Siser EasyWeed be used on nylon?

Siser EasyWeed is specifically designed for cotton, polyester, and poly-cotton blends. It may not adhere well to nylon due to its water-repellent coating.

Do I need a heat press?

While a heat press is recommended for consistent pressure and temperature, a household iron can be used if you maintain 150 C and apply firm, even pressure.

Is it safe for children's clothes?

Yes, Siser EasyWeed is Oeko-Tex Standard 100 Class I certified, meaning it is safe for textiles that come into contact with babies and small children.

Can I layer EasyWeed?

Yes, it is stackable, allowing you to layer multiple colors to create multi-colored designs.

How should I store leftover vinyl?

Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight to maintain the adhesive quality of the carrier sheet.

Do I need to mirror my image before cutting?

Yes, because you are cutting through the back of the vinyl (the adhesive side), you must mirror your design in your software.

Troubleshooting

Vinyl is not sticking to the fabric

Ensure the temperature is exactly 150 C and increase the pressure during the application process.

Vinyl is difficult to weed

Check your blade depth or force settings; if the vinyl tears, your blade may be too sharp or the force too high.

Design peels after washing

Ensure you are using the correct heat and time; wait 24 hours before the first wash and turn the garment inside out.

Pros and Cons

Pros

  • Extremely easy to weed even for complex designs
  • Excellent durability and wash resistance
  • Oeko-Tex certified safe for all ages
  • Compatible with a wide range of cutting plotters
  • Allows for multi-layering applications

Cons

  • Requires a heat press or iron at 150 C
  • Not suitable for heat-sensitive fabrics that cannot withstand 150 C
  • Requires precise time and pressure settings for optimal adhesion

Setup, Compatibility & Care

To begin, ensure your design is mirrored in your cutting software before sending it to your plotter. Once cut, remove the excess material outside of your design. Set your heat press or iron to 150 C. Place the garment on the press to remove moisture and wrinkles, then position the vinyl with the carrier side facing up. Press for 15 seconds with medium pressure. Peel the carrier cold or warm depending on your preference. To care for your finished garment, wait 24 hours before the first wash, and turn the garment inside out to preserve the vinyl's finish.
