Setup, Compatibility & Care
Sowing:
- Sow seeds mid-spring indoors.
- Use good, free-draining, damp seed compost in 7.5cm (3in) pots.
- Germinate at 20-30°C (68-86°F) in a propagator or sealed container.
- Cover seeds with 1cm (½in) of compost or vermiculite.
- Germination typically takes 6-10 days.
Planting Out:
- Plant out after all risk of frost has passed.
- Space plants 45cm (18in) apart in blocks to aid pollination.
- Choose a position in full sun.
- Ensure the soil is fertile.
Care:
- Water regularly, especially during dry periods.
- Keep the area free from weeds.
- Avoid planting near ordinary sweetcorn varieties to prevent cross-pollination and dilution of sweetness.
Compatibility:
This variety is best grown in isolation from other sweetcorn types. It requires a sunny position and fertile soil.
