This guide helps homeowners understand and effectively use the FireAngel Mains Smoke Alarm - SW1-R. It's designed for those who want reliable early warning against fires, especially slow-burning ones. The key benefit is its fast response time and ability to interconnect with other alarms for comprehensive home protection. A key caveat is that while it conforms to British Standards, additional measures may be needed to wake sleeping children.

Press and hold the large central test button on the alarm. The alarm should sound.
Test the alarm monthly.
The alarm uses a 9V battery as a backup power source.
Replace the 9V battery annually or when the alarm indicates a low battery.
While the battery installation is straightforward, hardwiring the alarm should be performed by a qualified electrician.
You can interconnect up to 12 FireAngel SW1 or HW1 mains alarms.
Install the alarm on the ceiling in hallways, near bedrooms, and on each level of your home. Avoid kitchens and bathrooms.
The alarm is certified to EN 14604:2005.
Replace the 9V battery immediately. The alarm is indicating a low battery.
Test the alarm using the test button. If it still sounds, check for dust or debris inside the alarm and clean it. If the problem persists, the alarm may be faulty and need replacing.
Check the power supply (mains and battery). If the power is good and the alarm still doesn't sound, the unit may be faulty and need replacing.
Check the wiring connections between the interconnected alarms. Ensure that all alarms are compatible (SW1 or HW1) and wired correctly, according to the manufacturer's instructions.
