The Philips Solar Security Outdoor LED Flood Light is an ideal solution for homeowners looking to secure gardens, pathways, or garage perimeters without the complexity of electrical wiring. Delivering a powerful 800 lumens of cool daylight, this light offers reliable automated security through a built-in PIR motion sensor. No, this is a solar-powered device that requires no wiring, making it suitable for DIY installation.
IP65 means the light is protected against dust and water jets from any angle, making it fully suitable for outdoor use in rain and snow.
The remote is designed for use within a reasonable proximity of the fixture (typically line-of-sight). It may not work through walls or from significant distances.
Battery life depends on the lighting mode selected and the amount of sunlight collected. It is designed to provide sufficient coverage throughout a typical night cycle.
Flickering can indicate a low battery level or that the light is detecting its own reflection. Ensure the sensor is clear of reflective surfaces and allow the battery to charge fully.
Ensure the device is switched to the 'On' position and check if the battery has received sufficient charge from direct sunlight during the day.
Adjust the mounting angle or clear nearby moving objects like hanging branches or swaying shrubbery that might be entering the 120-degree PIR detection field.
Clean the solar panel surface of dust and ensure it is not obstructed by shadows. If performance remains low, consider moving the unit to a sunnier location.
Installation requires no electrical work. Simply use the included mounting hardware to secure the bracket to a wall or stable wooden post. Ensure the solar panel is free from shadows cast by eaves, trees, or bushes. Maintenance is minimal: keep the solar panel surface clean by wiping it with a soft, damp cloth every few months to remove dust or debris, which ensures efficient photon absorption. During extended periods of extreme weather, check that the mount remains secure and that the PIR sensor lens is free from cobwebs or bird droppings that might cause false triggers.
