Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup:
- Isolate the water supply to the radiator.
- Drain enough water from the system to prevent major leaks during installation.
- Unscrew the old valve and lockshield.
- Apply PTFE tape to the threads if recommended by your system's manufacturer (often not needed for compression fittings).
- Screw the new TRV body and lockshield into the radiator and pipework respectively, ensuring a snug fit for the 15 mm compression connections. Do not overtighten.
- Fit the TRV head onto the valve body according to its specific instructions.
- Gradually refill the system and bleed any trapped air from radiators.
Compatibility:
This valve is designed for standard UK central heating systems using 15 mm pipework. It is compatible with most radiators that have standard valve connections. Ensure your pipework enters the radiator horizontally for the straight TRV to fit correctly.
Care:
Periodically (e.g., annually), test the TRV head by turning it to the highest setting to ensure it moves freely and does not stick. To do this, remove the TRV head and gently push and pull the pin visible on the valve body. Clean the exterior of the valve and TRV head with a soft, damp cloth. Avoid using abrasive cleaners or solvents.
