FAQs

Can this kit remove flywheel bearings?

Yes, provided the bearing diameter falls within the 1.2-2.8 inch range and the flywheel structure allows for access behind the bearing.

Does this tool work with an electric impact gun?

It is recommended to use hand tools to operate this puller to avoid over-torquing and damaging the steel components.

What is the maximum spread for the separators?

The kit includes one separator that adjusts from 1.2-2.0 inches and another that adjusts from 2.0-2.8 inches.

Is the storage case waterproof?

Yes, the kit comes with a durable, waterproof storage case designed to protect the steel tools from moisture and oxidation.

Are the puller legs adjustable?

Yes, the kit includes multiple extension screws and hex push-puller legs that allow you to adjust the configuration for different depths.

Troubleshooting

The puller legs are slipping off the bearing.

Ensure the knife-shaped edge of the separator is fully seated behind the bearing race and tighten the side bolts evenly.

The main screw is difficult to turn under load.

Apply a small amount of heavy-duty grease to the threads of the main screw to reduce friction.

Pros and Cons

Pros

Durable heat-treated 45# steel construction
Versatile range of separators for different sizes
Includes a rugged, waterproof organized storage case
Excellent grip in tight spaces due to tapered edges

Cons

Limited to a 5-ton maximum capacity
Not suitable for extremely large industrial bearings
Requires manual adjustment which takes time during setup

Setup, Compatibility & Care

To begin, select the appropriate bearing separator size for your specific component. Use the extension screws if the bearing is recessed deeply within a housing. Ensure the yoke is properly centered on the main screw to distribute force evenly; uneven pressure can cause the tool to slip or bend a component. After use, wipe down all metal parts with a clean, dry cloth to remove any debris or moisture. Store the tools in the provided case to prevent rust and ensure you don't lose the smaller components. Avoid using an impact wrench with these tools, as manual force is generally safer to prevent potential damage to the puller threads.
