The Altura Icon Thermal Cycling Bib Tights are designed for dedicated cyclists who require reliable warmth and superior comfort during cold-weather rides. These tights provide an excellent balance of insulation and breathability through high-quality thermal fabric and moisture-wicking panels; however, riders should note that the integrated pad density varies by size to ensure ergonomic support, which may feel different if you are accustomed to generic, one-size-fits-all cycling chamois.

The 260gsm fabric provides excellent insulation and wind resistance, though they are categorized as thermal rather than fully windproof.
They feature a DWR coating that sheds light rain and road spray, but they are not fully waterproof and will eventually soak through in heavy precipitation.
Altura works with Elastic Interface to scale the foam thickness, ensuring that larger sizes receive appropriate support tailored to the rider's build.
Keep the zipper free of road grit by rinsing the ankle area with fresh water after particularly muddy rides to ensure the mechanism remains smooth.
Yes, the open mesh back panel and high-wicking polyester fabric allow excess heat and moisture to escape during hard training efforts.
The DWR coating can be reactivated by a gentle tumble dry on low heat or by using a spray-on re-proofer treatment specifically for cycling apparel.
Ensure the tights are the correct size to align the variable-density foam pad with your anatomy; additionally, applying a high-quality chamois cream can reduce friction.
To ensure the longevity of your bib tights, always wash them at a low temperature (30 degrees Celsius) using a technical fabric detergent. Avoid the use of fabric softeners, as these can strip the moisture-wicking and DWR properties from the polyester fibers. Always hang-dry the tights in a shaded area rather than using a tumble dryer, which can damage the elastic components and the chamois padding. When dressing, ensure the bib straps are laid flat against your shoulders to prevent chafing, and check that the zipper at the ankle is fully closed to ensure a secure, aerodynamic fit.
