Full details

This 31-piece Milwaukee SHOCKWAVE™ IMPACT DUTY screwdriver bit set is designed for professionals and DIYers using impact drivers who need a durable and reliable system for drilling and fastening. Its key benefit is exceptional durability and resistance to breakage, even under high torque. FAQs

Are these bits suitable for standard drills without impact function?

Yes, they are compatible with standard drills. However, the unique SHOCKWAVE™ features designed for impact absorption are most beneficial and fully utilized when used with an impact driver.

What types of screws are these bits best for?

These bits are designed for a wide range of common screw types, including Phillips, Torx, and Square drive, among others included in the 31-piece set. Their precision fit is ideal for most standard screw head types.

How do I prevent cam-out and stripping?

Ensure you select the correct bit size and type for the screw head. Apply firm, consistent pressure directly behind the screw head and use the appropriate speed and torque settings on your driver. The Wear Guard Tip feature helps maintain a precise fit over time.

What is the main advantage of the Shock Zone geometry?

The Shock Zone geometry is designed to absorb the shock and torque generated by impact drivers. It flexes to prevent the bit from snapping, significantly increasing its lifespan and durability under high-stress applications.

How should I store the bit set?

Store the bits in the provided case. This protects the tips from damage and ensures all pieces are kept together and easily accessible.

Can these bits be used for drilling holes?

This set consists of screwdriver bits for fastening applications. While they might fit in a drill chuck, they are not designed for drilling holes; dedicated drill bits should be used for that purpose.

How do I know when to replace a bit?

Regularly inspect the tip for signs of wear, rounding, or damage. If you notice increased cam-out or stripping, it's time to replace the bit.

Troubleshooting

Bit is slipping or camming out of the screw head.

Ensure you are using the correct bit type and size for the screw head. Verify the bit tip is not worn; replace if necessary. Confirm the bit is fully seated in the driver and that the driver's clutch setting is appropriate for the task.

Bit broke during use.

While designed for impact, extreme misuse or hitting an unyielding obstruction can cause breakage. Ensure you are using the bit with a compatible impact driver and not exceeding its torque limits for the specific material. Inspect the screw or material for obstructions.

Bit does not fit securely in the driver.

Check that the bit shank is clean and free of debris. Ensure the driver's collet or chuck is functioning correctly and can properly grip the bit shank.

Pros and Cons

Pros

  • Exceptional durability under high torque conditions.
  • Reduced risk of bit breakage due to Shock Zone geometry.
  • Precise fit minimizes cam-out and screw head stripping.
  • Designed for the demanding conditions of professional job sites.
  • Comprehensive 31-piece set covers a wide range of needs.

Cons

  • Primarily designed for impact drivers; performance with standard drills may vary.
  • Specific bit types may be limited within the 31-piece assortment.
  • Requires proper storage to maintain tip integrity and prevent loss.

Setup, Compatibility & Care

Setup: This bit set requires no special setup beyond insertion into a compatible impact driver or drill chuck. Ensure the bit is securely seated in the driver's collet or chuck before operation.

Compatibility: The SHOCKWAVE™ IMPACT DUTY bits are engineered for optimal performance with impact drivers. They are also compatible with standard drills, but the impact-absorbing features are most beneficial when used with a tool that delivers rotational impacts.

Care: To ensure longevity:

  • Clean bits after each use to remove debris.
  • Store bits in their original case to protect the tips and prevent loss.
  • Avoid using bits for tasks beyond their intended purpose or material ratings.
  • Inspect bits for wear regularly, especially the tips, and replace as needed.
