Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup:
- Placement: Choose a suitable location in your garden, considering the planter's final dimensions when filled and the sunlight requirements of your chosen plants.
- Drainage: Ensure adequate drainage. If the planter does not have pre-drilled holes, consider drilling several 1-2cm holes in the base to prevent waterlogging. You can also add a layer of gravel or crocks at the bottom before adding soil.
- Filling: Use a good quality potting mix or a blend of topsoil and compost suitable for your plants. Avoid filling entirely with heavy garden soil, which can compact.
Compatibility:
This planter is compatible with a wide range of plants, including flowers, herbs, small shrubs, and certain vegetables. It is suitable for use with standard potting mixes and garden soils.
Care:
- Cleaning: Wipe the planter with a damp cloth as needed. For stubborn dirt, a mild soap solution can be used, followed by rinsing. Avoid abrasive cleaners.
- Winter Care: While weather-resistant, it's advisable to empty the planter of soil during prolonged periods of frost or heavy snowfall to prevent potential cracking, although fibrecotta is generally more resilient than ceramic.
- Maintenance: Periodically check drainage holes to ensure they are not blocked.
