Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup:
- Ensure the basin is clean and dry.
- Apply plumber's putty or silicone sealant around the underside of the basin hole where the waste will sit.
- Insert the waste body from the top of the basin, ensuring the ceramic cover is correctly oriented.
- From underneath the basin, attach the rubber washer, plastic nut, and brass washer to the waste body.
- Tighten the plastic nut securely, ensuring a watertight seal. Do not overtighten.
- Attach the tailpipe to the waste body and connect it to your existing or new plumbing.
- Test for leaks by running water into the basin.
Compatibility:
This waste is compatible with standard bathroom basins that do *not* have an overflow hole. It uses a G 1 1/2 inch connection size, which is standard for most basin plumbing traps.
Care:
To maintain its appearance and function:
- Clean the ceramic cover with a soft, damp cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners.
- Periodically operate the pop-up mechanism and clean around it to prevent buildup of soap scum or debris.
- Occasionally, unscrew the pop-up rod and clean the stopper and internal mechanism if drainage becomes slow or the pop-up action is stiff.
