Troubleshooting

Compost is not breaking down quickly.

Ensure a good mix of 'green' and 'brown' materials. Aerate the compost by turning it regularly. Add water if it seems too dry.

Unpleasant odors are emanating from the composter.

Add more 'brown' materials to balance the mix. Ensure adequate aeration.

The lid is difficult to open or close.

Check for any obstructions. Clean the lid and the rim of the composter.
