Setup, Compatibility & Care
Installation requires basic hand tools, including a screwdriver, chisel (for hinge and latch mortising), and a drill for pilot holes.
- Preparation: Measure the door thickness and mark positions for the latch and handle centers.
- Mortising: Chisel out the recesses for the latch faceplate and the hinges to ensure they sit flush with the door frame.
- Fitting: Install the tubular latch into the side of the door, then align the backplates with the spindle before screwing them into the door face.
- Maintenance: To keep the satin brass finish looking new, wipe down the handles with a soft, damp cloth. Avoid harsh chemical cleaners or abrasive scouring pads, as these can damage the protective lacquer and lead to tarnishing.
