Setup, Compatibility & Care
To ensure your cherry tree thrives, choose a sunny or partially shaded spot with well-draining soil. If potting, use a high-quality multipurpose compost and ensure the pot has adequate drainage holes. Water the tree regularly, especially during the first year of establishment and during dry summer spells. To maintain the 'lollipop' shape, prune lightly in late spring or early summer after the flowers have faded, removing any wayward shoots that disrupt the ball silhouette. Being fully hardy, it does not require indoor protection during winter, though container-grown trees should be monitored to ensure the soil does not dry out completely.
