The Electrovision Variable Signal Attenuator is an essential tool for audio and video technicians or home theater enthusiasts who struggle with picture or sound distortion caused by signals that are too strong. Its primary benefit is the ability to fine-tune signal levels between 0 and 20 dB, ensuring a clean and clear output for your equipment. While it provides excellent control, users should note that it is designed specifically for signal management and will not boost weak signals, meaning it is only effective for reducing excessive input strength.

No, this is a passive device and does not require any external power.
Yes, it is designed to manage signal levels across various connection types provided they fit the standard line sockets.
The dial is adjustable between 0 and 20 dB; however, it is meant to be adjusted by eye or ear while monitoring your equipment's performance.
No, this device is only designed to attenuate (reduce) strong signals, not to amplify weak ones.
While possible, it is generally unnecessary as a single unit provides up to 20 dB of attenuation, which is sufficient for most applications.
Ensure all cables are pushed firmly into the line sockets and check that the attenuation dial is not turned to the maximum setting.
Verify that the interference is actually caused by high signal strength and not by damaged cables or ground loops.
Setting up the unit is straightforward. Simply disconnect the incoming signal cable and plug it into the input socket of the attenuator. Then, use a short patch cable to connect the output socket of the attenuator to your receiving device. Rotate the control dial while monitoring your display or audio output until the interference is minimized. To maintain the device, keep the ports free of dust and moisture. Since the unit is made of metal, avoid using harsh chemical cleaners; a dry, lint-free cloth is sufficient for cleaning the exterior.
